Xtrusio AEO/GEO Audit

Sixty buyer questions. Twenty-nine mentions.

Strong on carrier DPI. Silent across every DDoS question.

Twenty buyer-intent questions were put to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini — 60 answers in total. Allot was named in 29 of them (48%). ChatGPT named Allot 13 times, Claude 10 times, Gemini 6 times. Yet across the five DDoS buyer-intent questions tested — from mobile inline protection to 5G core, from Tier-1 carrier volumetric to bank on-premise — Allot did not surface once on any platform, while NETSCOUT, Radware and Corero took those answers instead.

The findings below come from Xtrusio, an AI visibility audit system built for B2B buyer-intent testing. Every mention was recorded by running 20 real prospect questions across three generative AI platforms and reading the answer text.

Questions were written from the perspective of telco CTOs, VP Network Engineering leaders, and enterprise CISOs evaluating cybersecurity, DPI and traffic-management platforms — not from Allot’s own category vocabulary.

The DDoS Blackout

Allot’s 29 mentions came from CSP consumer security, carrier network intelligence, and enterprise traffic queries. Across the five DDoS buyer-intent questions tested, none of Allot’s four DDoS SKUs surfaced on any platform.

The five DDoS query frames — mobile inline (Q11), 5G core (Q12), Tier-1 volumetric (Q13), bank on-premise (Q18), FinServ regulated (Q19) — produced zero citations across all three platforms. Allot ships 5G NetProtect, DDoS Secure, DDoS BusinessSecure and DDoS Network Protection, yet in the answers a buyer reads, those queries went to NETSCOUT/Arbor, Radware, Corero and Cloudflare.

ChatGPT leads Allot’s visibility at 65%
ChatGPT named Allot on 13 of 20 questions. On Q7 (unified carrier platform combining DPI, PCC, security and analytics) Allot ranked #1 across all three platforms unanimously — the only unanimous top position recorded. On Q14 (government/public sector traffic) ChatGPT ranked Allot #1 as well.
Gemini shows limited visibility beyond Allot’s core DPI positioning
Only 6 citations across 20 queries. Even Q1 and Q2 — the exact CSP consumer security frames Allot has been marketing for a decade — produced no vendors at all. Allot’s brand rewrite (“Protecting the Unprotected”) did not translate into stronger visibility in the Gemini responses tested.

Cisco shows strong cross-category visibility
Cisco appears on 21 of 60 answers across the tracked set — Umbrella, ThousandEyes, ETA, Meraki and AppDynamics carry the brand into observability, security and DPI adjacencies. Claude named Cisco 11 times, more than any other vendor on that platform. Allot leads the raw total at 29, but the rank quality of Cisco’s mentions (frequent top-3 positions) is closer than the totals suggest.
NETSCOUT dominates the DDoS lane Allot competes in
NETSCOUT / Arbor reached 20 mentions on the strength of DDoS and traffic-visibility queries. On the five DDoS buyer-intent questions tested in this audit, NETSCOUT, Radware, Corero, Akamai and Cloudflare were surfaced across the three platforms — Allot was not named on any of those five queries on any platform.

Twenty buyer questions — tap any row to read the exact wording

Every question was written from the point of view of a real decision-maker researching telco cybersecurity, carrier network intelligence and enterprise traffic platforms before they know which vendors exist. None of them names Allot, a competitor, or any category term Allot invented. They are the questions a buyer actually types.

The DDoS Blackout

Five distinct DDoS query frames. Three platforms. Zero mentions.

The usual shape of these audits is one weak platform and two strong ones. That is not what happened here. Allot leads the overall count at 29 mentions and takes seven #1 positions on ChatGPT, yet across the five DDoS buyer-intent questions tested — framed differently, targeting different buyer segments — Allot did not surface on any platform. The split is not between platforms. It is between the categories where Allot’s DPI heritage carries through and the DDoS category where the answers went elsewhere.

“Which vendors provide inline DDoS mitigation for mobile network operators at Tbps scale?”

— Q11. ChatGPT named NETSCOUT, Radware, A10 and Nokia Deepfield. Claude named NETSCOUT, Corero, Radware. Gemini named Cloudflare, Akamai, NETSCOUT. Allot 5G NetProtect was not surfaced on any platform.

“Which DDoS mitigation platforms do the largest global mobile carriers use for volumetric attack protection?”

— Q13. All three platforms named NETSCOUT/Arbor first. ChatGPT added Radware and Nokia Deepfield. Claude added Akamai and Corero. Gemini added Cloudflare Magic Transit and Akamai Prolexic. Allot was not named.

“Which on-premise DDoS mitigation appliances are used by banks and financial institutions that cannot route traffic through cloud scrubbing?”

— Q18. The exact buyer intent for Allot DDoS Secure on-prem. ChatGPT named NETSCOUT/Arbor, Radware DefensePro, Corero SmartWall. Claude named the same three plus F5. Gemini named A10 Thunder TPS, Radware, Fortinet. Allot did not appear on any platform.
Five Consecutive Zero-Slots
Q11 (mobile inline), Q12 (5G core), Q13 (Tier-1 volumetric), Q18 (bank on-premise), Q19 (FinServ). Five distinct DDoS frames × three platforms = fifteen chances to enter the vendor list. Zero citations. The repeated absence across five distinct DDoS query frames suggests a broader category-visibility issue, not an isolated query effect.
Allot ships four DDoS SKUs
5G NetProtect (mobile core), DDoS Secure (enterprise on-prem), DDoS BusinessSecure (CSP-delivered SMB), DDoS Network Protection (Tier-1 carrier). Each maps directly to one or more of the five queries above. The Allot brand and DPI heritage reach the answers on CSP queries; the DDoS SKU names, use cases and reference customers did not translate into visibility in the DDoS responses tested.
What this audit does and does not tell you

This audit records whether Allot is named in the answer a buyer reads. It does not capture source links, so it cannot say why a platform named one vendor and not another. Several explanations are consistent with these results — how each platform associates the Allot name with the DDoS category, how much third-party material discusses Allot’s DDoS deployments, how tightly the brand is coupled to DPI in the training data — and this audit does not distinguish between them. What it does establish is the outcome: on 15 of 15 DDoS answers tested, a buyer asking those questions did not see the Allot name. This is a point-in-time snapshot; a single run of any question can vary by a few percentage points on repeat, and the zero results here held across the DDoS questions tested in this audit.

Section 7

Methodology

How this Xtrusio AEO/GEO Audit was run

01
Twenty buyer-intent questions
Questions were built from Allot’s three business lines (CSP Consumer Security, CSP Network Intelligence, Enterprise Traffic Intelligence), the differentiators Allot claims, and the lanes competitors are known to hold. Eight test where Allot should win (CSP/DPI), seven test shared territory (encrypted traffic, government, campus), five test categories where competitors are stronger (DDoS, DEM, cloud observability). None names a vendor.
02
Three platforms, sixty answers
Each question was asked once on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini in September 2026. A question counts as a mention when Allot is named or recommended in the answer text. Rank refers to order of appearance in the vendor list. Sub-brands (Allot Secure, Allot Smart, ACTI, DDoS Secure) all counted as Allot mentions.
03
Competitor scope
Every explicit vendor mention was counted once per answer, the same rule applied to Allot. The tracked set covers Cisco (integrated DPI + Umbrella + ThousandEyes + Meraki + AppDynamics), NETSCOUT / Arbor (DDoS + traffic visibility leader), Nokia (Deepfield + core network), Enea (Qosmos DPI, Openwave), plus Radware, Whalebone, F-Secure, Akamai, Corero and AppLogic Networks (Sandvine rebrand). These competitors compete for the same buyer during discovery.

Allot’s total is exhaustive across the full 20 × 3 matrix. Competitor totals are minimum confirmed counts within the tracked set and should not be read as a complete market ranking. Gemini and ChatGPT were tested across two conversational sessions each to verify results. Model versions, browsing state and account settings were not separately recorded. Source URLs were not captured, so this audit measures whether a vendor is named, not where the platform read about it. A single run of any question can vary by a few percentage points on repeat; the DDoS zero results here held across the repeat sessions.

Section 8

Recommendations

What to change first, and how to tell whether it worked

Allot already publishes a page for every product line and holds strong visibility on carrier DPI and CSP consumer security. Nothing below asks for new brand campaigns. The work is to make Allot’s DDoS SKUs and enterprise observability answer the questions buyers actually ask, and to get those SKUs named in the third-party material AI platforms draw on.

Build DDoS category visibility. Make the DDoS SKU pages answer the buyer’s question, not describe the feature.
4 actions
1
On each of the four DDoS SKU pages (5G NetProtect, DDoS Secure, DDoS BusinessSecure, DDoS Network Protection), add a plain-English section that answers the buyer question directly — for 5G NetProtect, what happens during a signalling storm on a 5G core; for DDoS Secure, what a bank sees on the appliance during a volumetric attack. Use the buyer’s words, not Allot’s.Quick win
2
Publish a single “Allot DDoS Portfolio” landing page that lists all four SKUs, their buyer segments, and one named reference deployment for each. Right now the DDoS SKUs sit under separate product families and are hard to find as a set.Quick win
3
Add carrier-DDoS positioning language (“Sandvine’s transition to AppLogic Networks has changed the carrier-DPI competitive landscape”) to the DPI page and the CSP overview, so the Sandvine-successor query returns Allot alongside Enea and AppLogic.Quick win
4
On the ACTI (Cloud) page, add explicit AWS and Azure workload-visibility copy, plus a mapping to the DEM buyer intent. This is currently the weakest surface in Enterprise Traffic Intel.Quick win
02
30–90
days
Get Allot’s DDoS and DEM SKUs into the third-party material buyers and platforms both read.
3 actions
1
Get the G2, Gartner Peer Insights and TrustRadius listings filled out with the DDoS SKU names as separate products (not folded into Allot Smart / Allot Secure). Ask carrier customers for named reviews on 5G NetProtect and DDoS Network Protection specifically. This is a hypothesis worth testing, not a guaranteed fix — re-run the same 20 questions in 90 days and see whether anything moves.Bigger lift
2
Publish the DDoS case studies with the carrier named, or with the country and the Tbps figures stated plainly. Named DDoS deployments (a Tier-1 mobile operator, a national bank) carry more weight in a comparison answer than sanitised industry references.Bigger lift
3
Get Allot DDoS and ACTI added to the analyst DDoS mitigation comparison articles (GigaOm Radar, Frost & Sullivan, Forrester Wave) where NETSCOUT, Radware and Corero already appear. Track which ones publish, and check whether the DDoS questions start returning Allot.Bigger lift
03

Defend the CSP Network Intelligence lead, and measure the rest.

CSP Network Intelligence is Allot’s strongest category (100% ChatGPT, 100% Claude, 60% Gemini). Q7 was the only unanimous #1 in this audit. Build more evidence there — named Tier-1 deployments, DART engine specifics, Smart5G scale numbers — before spreading effort across the DDoS and DEM lines.Bigger lift
2
Build Visibility for ACTI and DEM. The enterprise multi-cloud and Digital Experience Monitoring queries returned Cisco ThousandEyes and AppDynamics. Give ACTI Cloud its own comparison-oriented page vs ThousandEyes / Datadog / Riverbed, with the multi-cloud story upfront.Bigger lift
3
Re-run this exact 20-question set every quarter with Xtrusio. The score to watch is not the total — Allot already leads at 29 — it is how many of the five DDoS query frames move off zero.Quick win
