Gemini ignores Amdocs.
On 78% of buyer queries, only one AI platform tells the full story.
An independent 40-query audit of Amdocs Studios' visibility across AI-powered search platforms. We tested the exact questions telecom CTOs, CIOs, and transformation leaders ask when evaluating digital transformation partners and BSS/OSS modernization solutions.
Amdocs dominates on Claude (78%) but nearly vanishes on Gemini
(22%). Google's own AI barely knows Amdocs exists.
When a telecom CTO asks Gemini "Who can help me modernize our BSS stack?" — Accenture,
Netcracker, and Ericsson get cited. When they ask about cloud migration, data modernization, or
experience design — Amdocs doesn't appear at all. That's not a branding
problem. That's a pipeline problem. Google Gemini powers Google AI Overviews, which is where
enterprise buyers increasingly start their research.
Methodology
How we conducted this Xtrusio AEO/GEO Audit
This assessment combines Semrush AI Visibility data with manual buyer-intent query testing to provide a complete picture of Amdocs Studios' competitive positioning in AI-powered answer engines — going beyond automated scores to test what decision-makers actually ask.
Semrush AI Visibility: The Misleading Score
A 34/100 score hides the real problem — brand queries, not buyer queries
Semrush AI Visibility gives Amdocs a score of 34/100 — labeled "Low." Netcracker scores even lower at 28/100. On the surface, this suggests Amdocs has a slight edge. But when you dig into what these scores actually measure, the picture changes entirely.
The tool primarily tracks branded queries — "What is Amdocs?" or "Amdocs Info & Products." These are questions people ask when they already know the brand. They tell you nothing about whether a buyer discovering solutions for the first time will find Amdocs. This is why we use Xtrusio's buyer-intent methodology.
Semrush gives Amdocs a score of 34/100 with 805 mentions and 7.3M monthly audience. Netcracker scores 28/100 with 260 mentions. But Semrush scores don’t tell the real story. The real differentiator is who appears when enterprise buyers ask their discovery questions.
"Semrush says Amdocs scores 34/100 on AI Visibility. But when we tested 40 real buyer-intent queries, Gemini mentioned Amdocs in only 22% of them. The automated score measures brand awareness — Xtrusio measures pipeline impact."
— Xtrusio AEO/GEO Audit Methodology
Semrush AI Visibility is a directional signal — not a buyer-intent metric. This is why we use Xtrusio’s buyer-intent methodology to test what real decision-makers actually ask during discovery. Amdocs’ 34/100 score tracks brand awareness. Our 40-query audit tracks pipeline impact.
Platform Scorecard
Amdocs visibility varies wildly across AI platforms
The platform disparity is stark. Claude recognizes Amdocs as a major telecom IT player in 31 out of 40 buyer queries, frequently citing it first for BSS modernization, GenAI (amAIz), and the "services as software" model. ChatGPT shows moderate awareness at 50% — strong in core BSS/OSS and 5G monetization, but missing from cloud, data, and experience design queries.
Gemini is the critical gap. With only 9 citations out of 40, Google's AI platform barely recognizes Amdocs beyond its core BSS stronghold. Given that Gemini powers Google AI Overviews — where enterprise buyers increasingly start their research — this represents a significant pipeline risk.
Semrush’s automated score of 34/100 suggests low-but-present visibility. But when real telecom CTOs and CIOs ask the 40 questions they’d actually ask during discovery, Amdocs only appears 22.5% of the time on Gemini — the platform that powers Google AI Overviews, where enterprise research increasingly begins.
The Gemini Gap
Google's AI barely knows Amdocs Studios exists
Of the three platforms tested, Google Gemini represents the most urgent gap for Amdocs. Only 9 of 40 buyer-intent queries returned an Amdocs mention. Ironically, Semrush AI Visibility shows Gemini as Amdocs' highest-mention platform (261 mentions) — but those are branded queries, not buyer discovery queries.
When asked about digital transformation partners for telecom, Gemini recommends Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, and Capgemini — but never mentions Amdocs. This is a core capability query that Amdocs Studios directly addresses, yet Google’s AI doesn’t surface the brand during buyer discovery.
This isn’t an isolated miss. Across 31 of 40 buyer-intent queries on Gemini, Amdocs goes unmentioned while Accenture, Ericsson, and Nokia appear consistently. The pattern suggests a systematic content gap on Google’s AI, not a one-off oversight.
"When a telecom CTO asks Gemini 'Who are the best digital transformation partners for telecom?' — Amdocs doesn't exist in the answer. Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, and Capgemini own that conversation."
— Gemini response to Q4, February 2026
But on Claude, the same question tells a different story:
The same question on Claude produces a very different result — Amdocs is cited as a leading telecom IT partner alongside competitors. This proves the content exists and Amdocs’ market position is recognized, but Gemini’s training data and citation patterns aren’t picking it up. Platform-specific optimization is required.
Amdocs’ content exists. Claude knows it (77.5%). ChatGPT knows it half the time (50%). But Gemini — where Google AI Overviews sends enterprise buyers — barely recognizes Amdocs beyond core BSS. That’s not a content problem. That’s a distribution problem.

Topic Cluster Performance
Where Amdocs wins and where it vanishes — by topic area
Aggregating results by topic cluster reveals clear patterns. Amdocs dominates in BSS Modernization and 5G & Monetization across all platforms, but completely disappears from Financial Services, Experience Design, and Quality Engineering conversations. The Cloud Transformation gap is especially concerning — 0% on both ChatGPT and Gemini despite Amdocs' Cloud Studio offering.
Recommendations
A phased approach to closing the AI visibility gap
The data reveals a clear pattern: Amdocs has strong visibility in its traditional BSS/OSS and 5G monetization strongholds, but is nearly invisible in the Studios growth areas — cloud transformation, experience design, data modernization, and financial services. The Gemini gap makes this especially urgent given Google's role as the starting point for enterprise research.
- Publish dedicated thought leadership on Cloud Studio capabilities — cloud migration for telecom, mainframe modernization, hyperscaler partnerships
- Create comparison-style content: "BSS vendor vs SI for telecom transformation" positioning Amdocs Studios uniquely
- Ensure Google indexes key Studios pages — verify sitemap, structured data, and crawlability
- Develop content around the "services as software" differentiator — this is Amdocs' unique angle that no SI can claim
- Publish case studies with outcome data (TCO reduction, time-to-market improvement) in formats AI platforms can cite
- Target Data & GenAI Studio content: data modernization for telecom, Profinit capabilities, AI-ready data foundations
- Create analyst-friendly content citing Analysys Mason, ISG, and Gartner positions to strengthen trust signals
- Build comprehensive Experience Design Studio content — currently 0% visibility across ChatGPT and Gemini
- Develop financial services cross-vertical content if the FSI expansion is a strategic priority
- Implement ongoing AI visibility monitoring — re-test quarterly to track progress across platforms
- Consider third-party content partnerships (analyst firms, industry publications) to strengthen AI citation signals
The Gap is Fixable. The Window is Now.
