Bahrain Golden Residency Dependent Cancelled: What to Do
By Gaurav Agarwal · Updated 12 October 2026
Check the child's specific record in Requests and Golden Residencies Visa Management, save the status and payment evidence, then contact the Golden Residency team on +973 17484000. If it is not resolved, submit a tracked Tawasul complaint or inquiry to NPRA. Official pages do not promise a refund for an unexplained cancellation.
01Use this order before requesting a refund
Do not cancel, reapply or pay again until NPRA confirms what happened to the dependent record. A principal holder remaining valid does not explain the child's status, and the public pages do not publish an automatic restoration rule.
- Open Requests and Golden Residencies Visa Management and check the specific dependent residency, not only the parent's record.
- Save a screenshot of the result, the application number, residency number, payment receipt and the time you checked.
- Call +973 17484000 or use the Golden Residency inquiry form and ask for the reason, effective date and review route in writing.
- If the issue is not resolved, submit a complaint or inquiry to NPRA through Tawasul and attach the evidence.
- Ask separately whether any paid issuance fee is refundable in your exact case. Do not describe it as an entitlement unless NPRA confirms it.
02Confirm whether the residency or only a request was cancelled
The Golden Residency FAQ directs holders to Bahrain.bh, then Requests and Golden Residencies Visa Management, to find and print a residency or check a request. Search for the dependent's own record. A parent residency showing valid does not prove that the dependent record is valid.
Record the exact wording the portal shows. Do not convert those labels into a legal reason. Ask NPRA to state the reason and effective date.
| Your situation | What to ask NPRA | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| The request appears cancelled | Why the request was cancelled and whether correction or a new request is required | Paying again before the reason is known |
| Residency shows as cancelled | Effective date, reason, grace period and review route | Assuming the parent's valid status restores the child |
| Nothing found | Whether the passport, CPR or request number is linked correctly | Submitting multiple duplicate requests |
| Residency shows as expired | Renewal, cancellation, fine and grace-period position | Treating expiry and cancellation as the same event |
| Parent valid, child cancelled | Why the records differ and whether the dependent relationship remains linked | Changing the principal record without official advice |
03Prepare one clear review file
A short, complete file is easier to review than repeated messages. Blur unrelated bank data when saving a receipt, but keep the official transaction reference, amount and date visible. Never post passport or CPR details publicly.
The dependent enrolment service lists the dependent passport, principal holder's passport, Bahrain medical insurance and the relationship document as core evidence. Use the version that was filed and any newer valid version if the old one expired.
| Record | What to capture |
|---|---|
| Principal holder | Golden Residency number and current valid-status screenshot |
| Dependent | Passport, CPR if issued, Golden Residency number and cancelled-status screenshot |
| Relationship | Birth certificate used for the child's enrolment |
| Application | Request number, submission date and any approval or cancellation message |
| Payment | BHD 5 or BHD 300 receipt with transaction reference |
| Insurance | Certificate used for enrolment and its validity dates |
| Contact history | Call date, inquiry reference, emails and Tawasul case number |
Suggested factual case summary
State the dependent's request or residency number, the date and exact status shown, that the principal holder remains valid, the payments made and the outcome you want: reason, review, restoration instructions or a written fee decision. Avoid guessing why the cancellation occurred.
04Contact the Golden Residency team, then use Tawasul
Start with the official Golden Residency inquiry form or hotline +973 17484000. Ask for a written explanation, the responsible NPRA service, any correction window and whether the dependent must remain in or leave Bahrain while the case is reviewed.
If the response does not resolve the issue, use the National Suggestions and Complaints System, Tawasul. The official service accepts complaints and inquiries to participating government entities, allows supporting documents and provides case tracking. Select NPRA or the Ministry of Interior service responsible for the Golden Residency record.
Keep the Tawasul case number. Add new evidence to the same case when possible instead of opening several complaints for one cancellation.
- Choose complaint or inquiry according to whether you need a correction or an explanation.
- Select the government entity responsible for the NPRA Golden Residency service.
- Use a precise subject such as 'Dependent Golden Residency cancelled while principal remains valid'.
- State the timeline and exact portal status without including unnecessary personal data in the subject.
- Attach the status, request, relationship and payment evidence.
- Ask for the cancellation reason, review decision, lawful next step, stay or grace-period position and written refund decision.
- Save the Tawasul reference and monitor the same case.
05What the official pages say about fees and refunds
The dependent enrolment page lists a BHD 5 non-refundable application fee and BHD 300 for a 10-year Golden Residency. The official pages reviewed do not publish a general rule promising that the BHD 300 issuance fee will be refunded when a dependent residency is cancelled without explanation.
The Golden Residency relatives cancellation service lists the cancellation itself as free when the residency is valid for more than one month. It lists BHD 30 for the stated expired-residence case and the official Enrolled residency fine case, each with a one-month grace period. A free cancellation fee is not the same as a refund of an earlier application or issuance payment.
Ask NPRA to identify each transaction and decide it separately: application fee, issuance fee, cancellation fee, fine or another charge. Request the answer in writing before filing a bank dispute or paying a replacement application.
| Amount or charge | Official public wording | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| BHD 5 application | Non-refundable | Was this the application payment on the cancelled request? |
| BHD 300 issuance | 10-year Golden Residency issuance fee | Was residency issued, and does NPRA approve any refund in this case? |
| Valid cancellation over one month | Cancellation fee free | Does this rule match the dependent's record? |
| Expired residence or Enrolled residency fine | BHD 30 with one-month grace period in the listed cases | Which category and date apply to the dependent? |
| Unknown deduction | No public refund rule found | What service and transaction reference created the charge? |
06Confirm the child's stay position immediately
Do not calculate a grace period from a forum post. The cancellation page publishes a one-month grace period only beside its stated expired-residence case and the official Enrolled residency fine case. It does not say that every unexplained cancellation receives the same period.
Ask NPRA for the dependent's effective cancellation date, current lawful-stay status and last date for correction, new application or departure. Save the answer. If travel is planned, confirm that the passport and residency record allow the journey before booking.
What the official pages do not say is why one family member may be cancelled while the principal remains valid, whether restoration occurs automatically or whether the BHD 300 issuance payment is refundable. Those require a case-specific NPRA decision.
07FAQs
How do I check whether a Bahrain Golden Residency was cancelled?
Use Requests and Golden Residencies Visa Management on Bahrain.bh and search the dependent's own record. Save the exact status and time checked.
Can a child's Golden Residency be cancelled while the parent's remains valid?
The public pages do not explain why a dependent's residency would be cancelled while the principal holder's stays valid. Ask NPRA for the dependent-specific reason and review route.
How do I request a review?
Contact the Golden Residency team on +973 17484000 or its inquiry form. If unresolved, submit a tracked Tawasul complaint or inquiry to NPRA with the status, relationship, request and payment evidence.
Will Bahrain refund the Golden Residency fee?
The BHD 5 application fee is expressly non-refundable. The official pages reviewed do not promise a general refund of the BHD 300 issuance fee after cancellation. Request a written NPRA decision for the exact transaction.
Is there a fee to cancel a dependent Golden Residency?
The relatives cancellation page lists no cancellation fee when residency is valid for more than one month. It lists BHD 30 in its stated expired-residence and Enrolled residency fine cases.
How long can the dependent stay after cancellation?
Confirm the exact date with NPRA. The public page mentions a one-month grace period only for specific BHD 30 cases, so do not apply it automatically to every cancellation.
Should I submit a new application immediately?
Wait until NPRA confirms the reason and correct next step. A new application may require another BHD 5 application fee, which the enrolment page lists as 'Application fee Non-refundable', so confirm the position with NPRA first.
