How do I get the flu vaccine at a Bahrain health centre in 2026?

By Gaurav Agarwal · Updated 13 October 2026

Al-Ayam reported on 11 October 2026 that all government health centres offer this season's flu jab, Sunday to Thursday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, open to everyone. Go to your assigned health centre in those hours. No official page says whether you must book, so check the Sehati app or call 8000 8100 first.

01Which situation are you in?

Find your row first. The vaccine is the same, but the price, the number of doses and the paperwork change with who you are.

Expats are the first rows because the cost question is theirs. Bahraini citizens can skip to the second row.

02Is the 2026 flu vaccine available at health centres now?

Yes, according to a press report. On 11 October 2026, Al-Ayam reported that the Primary Healthcare Centres announced the seasonal flu vaccine at all their health centres, and invited citizens and residents to take it.

The same report gives the hours as Sunday to Thursday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, and says the service is open to everyone. Bahrain runs its primary care through 26 health centres and one clinic across four health governorates.

Some centres are listed by MoH as working 24 hours, such as BBK Health Centre, but the reported flu jab hours are 7:30 am to 6:00 pm.

If you miss the start of the season, MoH's vaccination guide says the jab can still be given at any time during the season.

03Book on Sehati or walk in?

The app route is Sehati, which lets you book an appointment at your assigned health centre. The same booking is the MoH Health Centers and Hospitals Appointments eService, which books General Practice Clinic slots and is also in the Sehati app. It books General Practice Clinic appointments, and lets you reschedule or cancel them. When you start, you enter your patient information and the service assigns you to your health centre.

No official page lists a separate flu booking in Sehati or says whether you can walk in for the flu jab. The MoH no-appointment notice of 28 November 2021 was for COVID-19 vaccination, not flu.

If you book a General Practice Clinic slot, these rules apply. For the full first-visit walkthrough, use our health centres guide.

  1. Open Sehati or the MoH appointment service and enter your patient information.
  2. Book at your assigned health centre; you can see one week of upcoming slots and hold one appointment per specialty.
  3. Rescheduling is available up to 2 hours before the appointment time.
  4. Arrive 20 minutes early and go to the medical records section with the required documents.
  5. Be on time: a late patient's slot is given to another patient.

04Who MoH recommends the flu vaccine for

MoH recommends the seasonal flu vaccine every season for groups at higher risk. Adults aged 50 and over are in the target groups.

It is a killed vaccine given as a single dose each year. MoH's own advice is to take it every year.

05How much does the flu jab cost at a health centre?

For Bahraini citizens, care at government health centres is free of charge. Non-Bahrainis pay what the national portal calls a nominal fee.

MoH publishes the price lists. They apply to non-Bahraini patients who are not government employees or their families and who are not enrolled in the primary health care scheme.

06Private hospitals, school and work

Private hospitals and clinics also give the seasonal flu jab. Each sets its own price, so ask for this season's price before you go.

Ask your child's school or your employer whether they run on-site flu jabs this season.

07Check before you go

Run through this list the day before. It takes a minute and saves a wasted trip.

  1. You are registered at the health centre for your area of residence; that is the one to visit.
  2. You have had no severe allergic reaction to a vaccine component or a previous dose.
  3. MoH lists moderate to severe illness at the time of vaccination as a general vaccine contraindication.
  4. A first-time child aged 6 months to 9 years has the second dose planned at least 4 weeks later.
  5. You know the usual reactions: soreness, redness or hardening where the needle went in, and sometimes fever, chills, malaise or muscle aches.

Need your vaccination record?

Records, certificates and the full schedule are in our vaccination in Bahrain guide. This page covers only the flu jab.

08What the official pages don't say

At the time of writing, MoH's English and Arabic news lists carry no flu campaign notice for this season. The hours above come from a press report, not a ministry page.

No official page says whether the flu jab needs a Sehati appointment or allows walk-ins. None says whether a vaccine-only visit also attracts the BD 7 consultation fee, or whether the 24-hour centres give flu jabs at night.

The MoH price lists carry no date, and no statement for this season says the flu jab is free for residents. The MoH appointment page also gives two different triggers for a one-month booking suspension: three missed appointments in one line and two in another. During a suspension you can still book in person at the centre.

For anything not covered here, call the MoH Customer Service Center on 8000 8100.
