Bahrain Public School Registration 2026: Grade 1 Steps and Dates

By Gaurav Agarwal ยท Checked 6 October 2026

Bahrain public school registration for new Grade 1 students is currently closed. The Ministry of Education's published 2026 window ran from 27 April to 10 May 2026, and the National Portal now says the period has ended. When the next window opens, a parent or guardian uses Standard eKey, confirms the child's valid ID and date-of-birth eligibility, uploads any required residence or guardianship documents, submits the request and checks its status online. The service has no fee.

Is Bahrain public school registration open now?

No. The official portal says the new-student registration period for this year has ended. The Ministry of Education's 2026 page lists the application window as Monday, 27 April 2026 through Sunday, 10 May 2026. Do not submit personal documents to an unofficial form claiming that late registration is open.

  1. Watch the official Ministry page for the next registration period.
  2. Confirm that the child meets the Grade 1 date-of-birth rule published for that intake.
  3. Make sure the child's ID card is valid and, for a non-Bahraini child, the residence permit is valid.
  4. Prepare custody or guardianship proof if the applicant is not a parent.
  5. When the service opens, sign in with Standard eKey, complete the application and upload the required documents.
  6. Use the separate status-enquiry service to follow the submitted request.

Who can use the service?

This service is for a new student entering Grade 1 at a Bahrain government primary school. It is not a general transfer form, private-school application or registration route for every grade.

  • The student's ID card must be valid.
  • The student's date of birth must fall within the age rule announced for the intake.
  • A non-Bahraini student's residence permit must be valid.
  • The applicant must be a parent or hold valid custody or guardianship evidence.
  • When both applicant and student are non-Bahraini, their residence documents must be attached as stated by the Ministry.

The current page does not publish a new date-of-birth range for a future intake. Use the range shown in the official application when the next window opens. Do not rely on a previous year's school-age cutoff.

Step by step when registration reopens

1. Open the current Ministry registration page

Start from the Ministry of Education's Registration of New Students in Government Schools page. Read the registration dates, fee and conditions on that page before using any application link.

2. Launch the National Portal service

When the intake is open, select New Students Registration. The portal labels it as a Standard eKey service. Sign in with the parent or guardian account that will submit the application. Do not use another person's eKey merely because they already have an account.

3. Enter the student and guardian details

Complete the identity, birth and contact fields exactly as held in the government records. Upload custody proof when the applicant is not a parent. For a non-Bahraini child, verify the residence validity before submission and attach the residence copies requested for the student and guardian.

4. Review the school and residence information

Public-school placement is connected to the Ministry's rules and available schools. Review the residence area and any school information shown before confirming. The Educational Institutions Finder can help you understand nearby government schools, but seeing a school in the directory does not guarantee placement there.

5. Submit and save the reference

Review every entry, submit once and save the request reference. The official Ministry page states that the registration service has no fee. Do not pay a private intermediary for a government application slot.

How to check the application status

Use the official Request Status Enquiry service. Select Use eService and authenticate with the same Standard eKey context used for the application. Keep the application reference available if the next screen asks for it.

If the application cannot be found, first confirm that it was submitted successfully and that you are using the correct account. Avoid creating a duplicate request unless the Ministry instructs you to do so.

How to find government schools

The Ministry's Educational Institutions Finder lists government schools and lets you filter by governorate, gender and area. Use it to check locations and contact details while preparing, then rely on the official registration result for the child's actual placement.
