02Sri Lanka Embassy Bahrain address and contact

The embassy is at Villa 25, Um Shoom Avenue, Block 333, Al Mahooz, Manama, Bahrain. The official contact page gives +973 1700 8410 and slemb.bahrain@mfa.gov.lk. Save both before travelling so you can confirm a service or ask about a document that is not covered online.

The Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs directory also lists +973 1766 0408 as a second number. Use the embassy contact page first. Add the exact service to your email subject.

For directions, enter the complete official address, including Block 333 and Al Mahooz. The public contact page also includes a message form.

The Sri Lanka tourism authority directory uses the older email Slemb@batelco.com.bh. It names Mahooz District. The embassy contact page gives slemb.bahrain@mfa.gov.lk. Use the embassy address for current enquiries.

03Opening hours

Office hours are Sunday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Consular service ends at 2:00 PM. Use that shorter window for counter services.

The embassy and ministry list different office hours. The ministry directory gives 08:00 to 16:00. Plan around 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM for consular work. Call before a special trip.

The embassy also publishes a 2026 holiday list. Check it on the day you plan to visit.

04How to apply for an adult Sri Lankan passport

An ordinary passport is valid for 10 years when first issued. Apply about six months before expiry. Apply sooner if no visa pages remain.

Use Form K35 for an adult application. Attend in person with the current passport. Use the checklist below for the remaining papers.

The Bahrain fee is BHD 59.500 cash. Circular OM/01/2019 took effect on 1 July 2019. The all-countries passport fee is US$158. Overseas applicants use Form K35A. They must sign its Client Undertaking Section.

Open the official service-instructions page and select Application for a New Passport.
Complete Form K35 in English block capitals and keep each signature inside the marked area below the photograph.
If directed to the overseas route, use Form K35A with the supporting documents. Sign its Client Undertaking Section.
Prepare three recent 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm photographs.
Take the original passport and copies of pages 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Attend in person and take BHD 59.500 in cash for the published fee.

05Child passport

A child under 16 uses Form K35 and a separate checklist. The Bahrain fee is BHD 49.000 cash. The three-year minor passport fee is US$129.

For a child passport, prepare:

The consular birth certificate and Sri Lankan citizenship evidence.
A consent letter signed by both parents.
Copies of both parents' passport pages 2, 3, 8 and 9.
The parents' marriage certificate in Sinhala or Tamil. Translated copies are not accepted.
Three recent photographs that meet the embassy's background and visibility rules.
Copies of the child's current passport pages 2, 3, 4 and 5, when applicable.

06Lost passport

A lost passport uses the steps below. The Bahrain fee is BHD 140.500 when a copy is available. The circular lists US$373 with a copy. It lists US$473 without one. The mission may decide the lost fee case by case.

For a lost passport:

For a lost passport, download Form K35 and Form D. Then complete the lost passport form.
Add three recent photographs and the police certificate.
Add the lost passport copy, or the birth certificate and National Identity Card when the copy is unavailable.
Check the Bahrain fee before visiting because the local page and circular use different currencies.

07Emergency travel and passport routes

For an Emergency Travel Document, use its form and add a request letter. Take three photos and the previous passport. Add the birth certificate copy. A lost-passport case also needs a police certificate. The fee is BHD 20.500 cash.

08Police certificates, labour matters and civil registration

Sri Lankan police certificate requests go to police.lk. Bahrain certificates use services.bahrain.bh. Bahrain fingerprint information is also on that portal.

Labour help includes Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment registration and renewal. It also covers domestic and skilled worker contracts with a Labour Market Regulatory Authority visa.
