Confirm the island is operating before going to Sitra
Al Dar Islands is a managed island resort reached by boat from Sitra Fisherman Port. It suits a beach day when you are happy to organise the crossing, identification, shade and return journey as part of the outing. It is not simply a mainland beach where you can arrive by car and leave whenever you wish.
The resort's own website describes a boat ride of about ten minutes from Sitra and a mix of beach huts, chalets, food and activities. That crossing estimate does not include driving to the port, registration, waiting or boarding. Allow time for the whole journey, especially with children or a group.
Call +973 1770 4600 before departure and ask whether the island is open for ordinary visitors on your date. The operator warns that weather and private functions can affect access. Confirm the next outward boat and your intended return. If the trip depends on a particular hut, activity or chalet, confirm that separately.
There is a published-hours conflict worth knowing. The operator's ticket page lists 09:00 to 21:00 for both office and island. An older culture-authority directory says 09:00 to 17:00 and Monday closed. The resort's public Instagram profile also displayed Tuesday to Sunday when checked. A direct operating confirmation is therefore more useful than assuming every day follows the website's broad time range.
Published ticket prices and original identification
The operator's ticket page, checked 6 October 2026, lists weekday Sunday to Thursday admission at BHD 6 for an adult and BHD 3 for a child. Weekend and public-holiday amounts are BHD 8 and BHD 5 respectively. Children below five are listed as free.
The page describes adults as above 15 and children as below 15, leaving the exact age of 15 unclear. Confirm that boundary before budgeting. Each visitor needs an original valid identification document for registration; the operator names passports, CPR and Bahrain driving licences and rejects photocopies. Do not rely on a phone photograph.
Its wristband covers the two-way boat transport and must remain on during the stay. The listed sea-taxi interval is 30 minutes during operating hours. Payments are described as non-refundable. Check the current amount and operation before purchasing, especially if weather is uncertain.

For your own budget, list the people travelling, their ages and the date. Add optional accommodation, food, equipment hire and transport to Sitra as separate items. This avoids comparing a basic entry amount with somebody else's full-day spending and assuming the difference is an unexplained charge.
Before leaving home, check that the original documents are actually in the bag you will carry onto the boat. Keep them dry and secure during the beach visit. If a document type or a child's identification is unclear, resolve that with the operator before the journey rather than asking the registration desk to make an exception.
Choose a beach hut or chalet for the right reason
The beach-hut page says huts and shades come in different sizes, are rented for the day and are allocated on a first-come basis. A boat ticket does not establish that your preferred shade is reserved. Ask what sizes are operating, how allocation works that day and what the current rental includes.
For a casual visit, a hut may provide the base you need for bags and a break from the sun. For a group that needs a private indoor space, cooking facilities or an overnight stay, look at chalet arrangements instead. Do not describe an open beach shade as an air-conditioned room when discussing the plan with family members.

The one-bedroom chalet listing gives a concrete comparison: BHD 40 day use from 10:00 to 20:00, or BHD 60 overnight with 14:00 check-in and 11:00 checkout. It allows up to four people including children and excludes breakfast and boat-ticket charges. Those are published listing amounts, subject to booking confirmation.
The chalet page describes self-catering facilities and says room service is not provided. It lists a small kitchen and barbecue stand, but charcoal and cooking nets are not supplied. Confirm what is available and permitted before buying food for the trip. A kitchen description is useful preparation information, not a guarantee that every item you expect at home is present.
For an overnight reservation, ask about payment, cancellation, the exact unit, occupancy and transfers in writing. Make sure everyone understands checkout and the return boat arrangement. A chalet booking should solve a specific need, such as a private rest area or overnight accommodation, rather than become an unexpected upgrade after arriving without shade.

Activities, children and time on the water
The resort's activities page lists options including kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats, jet skis, banana-boat rides and sports courts. It also describes a children's area with shaded huts and play facilities. These are options to ask about on the day; the page does not establish a single all-inclusive activity ticket.
Choose an activity that suits the least confident participant, not just the most enthusiastic person in the group. Ask staff about age, swimming ability, equipment, supervision and the permitted area. Check the price and duration before starting, and find out whether weather has restricted any activity.
Keep an adult actively responsible for children around the water. A children's area, shallow-looking sea or a promotional description of safe swimming does not remove the need for supervision. Follow the staff's boundaries and instructions, and stop an activity when conditions or a participant's comfort make it unsuitable.
Leave time for changing, collecting belongings and reaching the boat. It is easy to start one more activity because the crossing itself sounds short, then discover that your chosen return is approaching. Set a reminder that allows the group to get ready without rushing along the shore.
Extra boat trips have their own booking terms
The separate boat-trips page lists fishing, dolphin watching and Jarada Island outings. It requests three days' advance booking, original valid identification and allows cancellation in severe weather. The page also says prices can change without notice. Treat these as separately arranged excursions, not automatic additions to an Al Dar entry ticket.
As published, the dolphin trip is BHD 35 for one hour for six people; fishing and the three-hour island trip are each BHD 110 for six. Extra people and extra time have separate charges. Ask for a quote for your actual group and confirm the departure place, included equipment, refreshments and return time.
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. A dolphin-watching trip is an opportunity to look for animals with a crew, not a promise that dolphins will appear. Likewise, the Jarada outing depends on tide and operating conditions. Avoid building an important celebration around a particular wildlife encounter or a fixed sandbank appearance.
If your main purpose is one of these outings, book that first and fit beach time around it. Do not assume you can add a longer excursion spontaneously and still catch an unchanged return connection. Get the complete sequence from the operator so that the different parts of the day work together.
Transport, weather and a simple packing plan
Use Sitra Fisherman Port as the starting point provided by the operator and confirm the exact office or meeting location. Bahrain's official transport guide explains taxi booking and other transport options. Arrange the mainland return as well as the outward ride, especially if your group will be tired or carrying wet beach gear.
If travelling by car, ask where visitors should park and whether any access or parking charge applies. This guide does not promise a particular parking space or free parking. If using a taxi, save the pickup location so that you can describe it accurately after the boat returns. Visitors arriving from Saudi Arabia can first use the King Fahd Causeway car guide to plan the border journey, then arrange the separate island visit.
The official weather guide helps with seasonal planning, but a seasonal description cannot clear a boat departure. Check the current forecast and the operator's decision before setting out. A pleasant temperature on land does not guarantee suitable sea conditions.
Pack original identification, a charged phone, sun protection, water, suitable footwear, a change of clothes and a bag for wet items. Keep essential medication with you and discuss any assistance needs in advance. Confirm available toilets, changing areas and boat boarding arrangements if these will determine whether the trip works for your group.
For food, ask what can be brought onto the island and which outlets will operate on your date. Different accommodation and event arrangements can have different rules. Bring only what you can carry and store safely, and clear your area before leaving so that the next visitors find a clean beach.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an Al Dar Islands visit cost?
The operator publishes separate weekday and weekend entry rates, with extras for huts, chalets and activities. Use the dated ticket section above, then obtain the current total for your ages and chosen date. Do not treat a chalet amount as including every visitor's crossing.
Is Al Dar open to the public?
The resort accepts ordinary visitors, but weather, private functions and the operating day can affect access. Confirm directly before going to the port, particularly for Monday, where the available listings differ.
How do I get there?
Travel to the operator's meeting point at Sitra Fisherman Port, complete registration with original identification and take the resort boat. Confirm your return before boarding.
Is it worth visiting?
It can suit a managed beach day or chalet break close to the mainland. It is a weaker fit if you need complete freedom over departure time or are relying on an unreserved hut, an unconfirmed activity or guaranteed wildlife sightings.
Can I take children?
The operator advertises family facilities and child tickets. Confirm ages, suitable life jackets, supervision and the facilities your family needs. A free or reduced ticket does not automatically mean every activity is suitable for that child.
