Arab Open University Bahrain's displayed BHD 62 and BHD 74 figures are enrolment-related charges, not tuition for a semester or a whole degree. To budget for study, use the quotation linked from the exact Bahrain programme page and separate course fees, preparation study, registration and other charges. The current linked business and ITC quotations include more than the admission table.

This guide checks AOU Bahrain's official pages and linked documents as of 6 October 2026. The business quotation reviewed is version 5 and the Information Technology and Computing quotation is version 4. Neither should be treated as an unconditional personal invoice or a guaranteed price for every future intake. Obtain confirmation of the programme plan and charges that apply to you.

Understand the BHD 62 and BHD 74 admission totals

The undergraduate admission-fees page breaks its enrolment amount into application, placement-test and HEC charges. Its programme rows produce two totals, depending on whether mathematics placement is included. The page describes these enrolment fees as non-refundable.

The BHD 62 rows include Business Studies, English Language and Literature, and the listed graphics and multimedia programme. The BHD 74 rows include ITC, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Science. Confirm the exact programme and test arrangement before paying; a fee difference at admission does not establish the difference in total degree cost.

Some rows contain the word quotation, but the checked admission-fee page did not expose a working quotation link there. The programme-detail pages provide the useful next step. This matters because a search result can lead to an older document even when a newer quotation is linked from the programme itself.

Use the quotation attached to the exact Bahrain programme

The Business Studies (Systems Practice) page links quotation AOUBH AF-006.A version 5. It describes a four-year route based on the 2022 programme plan. Its combined course-credit, learning-management-system and education-package amount is BHD 4,763, and its displayed total including the listed additional items is BHD 5,689.

The Information Technology and Computing page links quotation AOUBH AF-006.B version 4. It describes the 2021 programme plan over four years. The corresponding combined course, LMS and package amount is BHD 4,651; the displayed total with its additional items is BHD 5,854.

Information Technology and Computing, version 4BHD 4,651BHD 5,854

These are the totals in the named documents, not a claim that the entire amount is due immediately. The quotations use different module plans and preparation-course assumptions. Their plan years identify the curriculum basis; they do not establish a guaranteed 2026/27 fee year. Both documents say prices may change under HEC procedures, and the business document separately notes that education-package prices can change with suppliers.

Ask Finance to confirm the version and effective date applicable to your intake. If your offer uses a different programme title, study plan or approved exemptions, request the corresponding quotation. Do not relabel a business quotation as an AI, cybersecurity or English-language degree price merely because the university is the same.

Read the additional items before comparing totals

The business quotation adds English orientation, registration across eight semesters, value-added services across eight semesters, enrolment charges, student-fund charges, a student ID and graduation. The ITC quotation includes a mathematics orientation item as well. These assumptions explain why the lower combined course amount does not necessarily produce the lower displayed overall total.

In the ITC document, the listed English orientation amount is BHD 357 and the mathematics orientation amount is BHD 265. Whether your own route includes either course depends on the university's assessment and approved plan. Do not remove a preparation charge from your budget solely because you have studied English or mathematics before; obtain the placement or exemption decision.

The administrative-fees page links a separate schedule published on 5 August 2025. It includes charges for registration, graduation, late registration and particular services. Use it to check the items on your quotation, not as a list to add in full to every student's bill. Many charges depend on a specific event or request.

A practical comparison has an included column and a separate column. If the quotation's base already includes LMS and educational packages, adding them again as independent extras would overstate the total. Conversely, an admission payment alone does not cover the remaining degree charges. Ask Finance to mark each item as included, additional, conditional or already paid.

Build the first-semester payment plan from actual courses

A four-year total does not tell you the cash needed at the start. The quotations show different course combinations in each semester, and the first degree semester may not be the same as your first period of study if preparation courses are required. Request the modules you can actually register for and the date each payment falls due.

Use five lines for the initial budget: enrolment already paid, any preparation study, registered degree modules, recurring semester charges and one-off items due now. Then subtract only payments that Finance confirms have already been credited. This prevents the same BHD 62 or BHD 74 enrolment charge from appearing twice in a personal spreadsheet.

For example, imagine an applicant whose quotation contains an English orientation course but whose accepted placement decision changes the first-semester plan. The useful question is not simply whether the total becomes smaller. Ask which modules can begin, which charges remain payable, and whether the payment schedule changes. A revised written quotation can resolve all three without an invented saving.

Keep personal expenses outside the university-fee table. Transport, a suitable computer and any effect on working hours are real costs but depend on your circumstances. Estimate them separately. If you plan to study while working, ask for the actual attendance pattern before assuming blended learning means every required activity can be completed at a convenient time.

Check placement and transfer decisions before finalising the cost

The undergraduate requirements describe English placement or accepted language evidence and the possibility of orientation study before the chosen programme. They also set document requirements according to the applicant's schooling background. Supply the evidence requested for your category and wait for the university's decision rather than converting a general requirement into a personal exemption.

For transfer applicants, ask for a formal list of accepted courses and the remaining programme requirements. A previous transcript is evidence for assessment; it is not proof that a fixed number of semesters or a particular amount of tuition disappears. Course descriptions and the relevant approval may be needed before a reliable remaining-cost estimate can be prepared.

The reviewed programme pages describe different credit totals, including 133 hours for Business Studies and 131 for ITC. Their detailed plans and quotations matter more than dividing a headline price into an assumed universal rate. Modules carry different package and course costs, and the personal plan may change after placement or transfer review.

Keep the scope of this check narrow. Admission documents, fee calculations, qualification recognition and later certificate attestation are separate matters. This fee guide does not establish recognition of an award for a particular employer, profession or country, nor does a programme's validation label settle every future use of the qualification.

Read payment and withdrawal terms before committing

The financial-terms page links a document explaining payment deadlines and the consequences of unpaid fees. It also distinguishes course withdrawal, postponement and complete withdrawal from the university. These actions must not be treated as financially interchangeable.

The linked terms say admission, placement-test and HEC service charges are non-refundable. Course-related adjustments depend on the calendar and fee component, while the document describes account-credit treatment rather than a general cash-refund promise. Its complete-withdrawal provision says tuition is not refunded. Read the applicable document and ask Finance to confirm the exact result for your planned action and date.

Before registering, save the relevant calendar dates and ask how any instalment arrangement works. If a work or family change affects attendance, contact the university before the deadline rather than stopping attendance and assuming that cancels the financial obligation. Request confirmation of both the academic status and the student-account balance.

Request a quotation that can be checked line by line

A useful enquiry gives the Bahrain programme title, intended intake, whether you are a new or transfer applicant, and the status of placement decisions. Ask for the applicable plan version, first-semester modules, full list of included charges, payment dates and the effect of any approved exemption. Use the official Bahrain contact details on the programme or finance page.

When the quotation arrives, compare it with the linked public version. If it differs, ask which revision applies and retain the explanation. Older official PDFs remain discoverable in search: an earlier ITC document, for example, contains a different total and older application and graduation charges. Its official domain alone does not establish that it is the version for your intake.

Store the offer, quotation, placement decision and payment receipts together. Revisit the estimate when your course plan changes. This gives you a usable financial record through registration and later semesters rather than a single screenshot of an admission-fee total.

Frequently asked questions

Is an AOU Bahrain degree BHD 62 or BHD 74?

No. Those figures are the displayed enrolment charges. They combine application, placement and HEC items; programme study costs are additional and must be checked in the relevant quotation.

What totals do the linked business and ITC quotations show?

The checked Business Studies version 5 shows BHD 5,689 including its listed extras. The ITC version 4 shows BHD 5,854. These are document-specific illustrations with preparation and semester assumptions, not unconditional personal invoices.

Does every student need both orientation courses?

Do not assume so. Ask the university to confirm placement and the resulting study plan. The reviewed ITC quotation includes English and mathematics orientation items; your actual obligations need the university's decision.

Can I use fees from another AOU country?

No. Use the Bahrain branch's exact programme and quotation. A similar programme name on another national website does not establish Bahrain tuition, currency, administrative charges or entry conditions.

Should I add LMS and books to the displayed programme base?

First check what is included. The reviewed quotations describe a combined course, LMS and education-package amount. Adding the same component again would double count it, while an individual course plan may require separate clarification.

Will withdrawing return all the money in cash?

The linked financial terms do not support that assumption. They distinguish fee components and actions, describe account-credit treatment and state a no-refund provision for complete withdrawal. Obtain a written explanation before acting.
