Bahrain Birth Certificate: Newborn Application, Fees and Copies

01What you need for a newborn certificate

• The Birth Notification Request Number printed on the birth notification form
• The Child Personal Number sent by SMS
• The delivery address shown by the service, or the updated address you want to use
• A debit card, credit card or another payment method listed by the service

The service retrieves the birth, father, mother and informant details after the two numbers match.

02How to request a Bahrain birth certificate online

1. Open the official Request a Birth Certificate page.
2. Choose Use eService, then select Request a Birth Certificate.
3. Enter the Birth Notification Request Number.
4. Enter the Child Personal Number received by SMS.
5. Review the retrieved family and birth details.
6. Confirm the child's English and Arabic names and the delivery address.
7. Select the number of copies, up to three, review the total and pay.

If the child's name must be changed, the official guide requires a visit to iGA's Birth and Death department.

03Birth certificate fees and delivery

• First copy when the newborn is 1 to 7 days old: BHD 0.500
• First copy when the newborn is more than one week old: BHD 0.900
• Each copy after the first: BHD 1.000
• Maximum: three copies in one request

The service also shows the portal fee and total before payment. After successful payment, it issues a receipt and post ID for tracking the postal package. The current Request a Birth Certificate page does not publish a delivery time.

04Lost certificate or extra extract

Use Replacement/Extract of Birth Certificate and book an appointment through the Mawaeed app. The fee is BHD 1 when the full event date is provided and BHD 2 when only the year is provided. The published process time is one to three working days.

The service lists the application form, copies of the applicant's and parents' ID cards or passports, parents' marriage contract if available, a copy of the existing certificate if available, and authorization if the applicant is absent.

05Child born outside Bahrain

Use Request for Birth Certificate Outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. Report the birth within 60 days and obtain the notification number through the Bahrain embassy or consulate.

The fee is BHD 1. Online submission takes five to 15 minutes, and the official directory lists postal delivery in two working days. This route requires Advanced eKey and the authenticated foreign birth certificate, mother's ID, father's passport and parents' marriage contract.
