Bahrain Labour Complaint: Official Route, Documents and Time
By Gaurav Agarwal ยท Checked 6 October 2026
If you still work for the private-sector employer and your work permit is valid, file through the Ministry of Labour service for registering and addressing labour complaints. You need your ID card, the employer's CR number and documents supporting the complaint. The official process time is five working days; no fee is published. If you are no longer at work or the dispute concerns dismissal, use the separate Settlement of Individual Dispute service instead.

Choose the correct labour complaint route
| Your situation | Official route |
|---|---|
| You are still working for the employer and have a valid work permit | Registering and addressing labour complaints for private-sector workers |
| You are no longer at work, or the dispute concerns dismissal | Settlement of Individual Dispute |
| The complaint is about workplace or worker-accommodation safety | Occupational safety and health violation report |
| The dispute is about an employment office or domestic-worker recruitment contract | LMRA Complaint Against Employment Office |
The main Ministry complaint service has a strict eligibility rule: the complainant must still be on the job, registered with that company and holding a valid work permit when applying. Check this before spending time on the form.

Documents required for the main complaint
- The worker's ID card.
- The employer's commercial registration number.
- Documents that support the complaint.
- Complete contact, employment and complaint details requested by the form.
The official attachment list is short, but the quality of the supporting evidence matters. A clear chronology supported by contracts, payslips, bank entries, attendance records and written communication is easier to investigate than a long statement with no dates.

Build a useful evidence file
Create a one-page timeline before opening the application. List the event, date, amount where relevant, the person contacted and the document that supports it. Keep the language factual. Separate what happened from what you believe the employer should do.
| Complaint type | Useful evidence |
|---|---|
| Unpaid or short salary | Contract, payslips, bank statement entries and a month-by-month calculation |
| Overtime dispute | Work schedule, attendance records, approved timesheets and wage records |
| Leave dispute | Leave request, approval or refusal, medical certificate where relevant and HR messages |
| Contract or job change | Signed contract, amendments, offer letter and written employer instructions |
| Workplace treatment | Dated messages, incident reports, witness details and earlier internal complaints |
Redact unrelated bank transactions and private third-party data before uploading. Keep the originals. Do not alter dates, crop away context or submit screenshots that cannot be connected to the people and event described.
Step by step for a current employee
1. Confirm your work-permit status
The service requires a valid work permit and current registration with the employer. Use the official LMRA lookup explained in our LMRA visa check by CPR guide if you need to confirm the permit status before applying.
2. Identify the employer's CR number
Use the commercial registration number shown on the contract, salary documents or employer records. Do not guess from a trade name, because several registrations can use similar business names.
3. Organize the supporting documents
Name each file by date and purpose, such as salary record, attendance sheet or contract. Put multi-page evidence in chronological order and keep a short written summary ready for the complaint field.
4. Open the official service
Use the Ministry of Labour private-sector complaint service, select Use eService, sign in and complete every required field. The public screen does not request personal data until you start the authenticated service.
5. Submit once and keep the reference
Review the employer, claim dates and attachments before submitting. Save the complaint reference and confirmation. The official directory also lists Ministry contact numbers 17873627 and 17873919 for this service.
6. Track the five-working-day process
The government service information publishes a five-working-day process time. This is the service target, not a promise that a complex dispute will be fully paid or litigated within five days. Respond promptly if the Ministry asks for clearer evidence.

If you already left the job or were dismissed
Use the Ministry's Settlement of Individual Dispute route when you are no longer at work or, for a dismissal-related settlement, during the legal notice period described by the service. The private-sector labour law must apply, and the same subject must not already be in a pending court case or a criminal matter under Public Prosecution investigation.
The directory lists personal information about the applicant and information about the establishment as the required attachments, a process time of two to five working days, and eKey access. It also says an in-person visit requires an appointment through Mawaeed.

If the complaint is about workplace safety
The Ministry publishes a separate service for failures to follow occupational safety and health requirements at work sites or worker accommodation. The complainant must work for the named employer, and the complaint must relate to safety or health arrangements at an employer-linked site. The directory lists a two-working-day process time and the email [email protected].
Use an emergency channel when someone faces immediate danger. The administrative complaint route is for investigation and enforcement, not emergency response.
Common reasons a complaint stalls
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| You used the current-worker route after leaving | Use Settlement of Individual Dispute when its conditions fit. |
| The work permit is expired or tied to another employer | Confirm the LMRA record and ask the Ministry which route applies before filing. |
| The employer CR number is wrong | Copy it from an official employment or business record. |
| The complaint contains conclusions but no timeline | Add dated events, amounts and supporting records. |
| The same matter is already in court or under criminal investigation | Disclose the existing case and do not start a conflicting settlement route. |
Frequently asked questions
Can I file a Bahrain labour complaint online?
Yes. The Ministry of Labour provides an online service for eligible private-sector workers who are still on the job with a valid work permit.
What documents do I need?
Your ID card, the employer's CR number and documents supporting the complaint.
How much does it cost?
The official service pages checked for this guide do not publish a complaint fee.
How long does the complaint take?
The main current-worker service lists five working days. The individual-dispute route lists two to five working days.
Which law applies?
