01Check motorcycle licence eligibility

The official Learner's License Issuance Request covers private-car and motorcycle categories. For a motorcycle learner licence, the applicant must be at least 18.

  • valid Identity Card
  • valid residence permit for a foreign applicant
  • no legal restriction on the personal number
  • outstanding fines, violations and accident matters settled
  • physical and mental fitness to drive
  • successful eyesight test

The live learner-licence conditions include the minimum age and general eligibility checks.

02Apply for the motorcycle learner licence

  1. Open the official learner-licence service.
  2. Choose the motorcycle category.
  3. Confirm the applicant details shown from the government record.
  4. Complete the eyesight-test step when required.
  5. Review the motorcycle fee lines.
  6. Accept the declaration and pay.
  7. Save the learner licence and receipt.

The official eService issues the temporary learner licence and collects the listed fees.

The government service directory lists a valid Identity Card as the required document and describes the temporary learner licence as valid for one year.

The public service page lists the valid Identity Card as the required document.

03Check the motorcycle learner fees before payment

The live eService publishes a fee range of BHD 15 to BHD 47 because the total depends on the selected licence category and applicable items. The official motorcycle user-manual example shows:

Fee itemExample amount
LecturesBHD 4
Driving learning procedure bookBHD 1
Using the centreBHD 12
Motorcycle course, one hour in the exampleBHD 2
Issue learner licenceBHD 5
Example totalBHD 24

Treat BHD 24 as the official manual's worked example, not a guaranteed total. Pay the amount calculated in your live application.

The current service publishes the applicable fee range and one-working-day processing period.

04Complete training and pass the tests

  1. Use the learner licence to arrange motorcycle training through the official driving-school route.
  2. Complete the required lectures and practical riding sessions.
  3. Book the theory test through the official driving-school services.
  4. After passing theory, book the motorcycle riding test.
  5. Attend with the required learner record and identification.
  6. Keep the success form after passing.

The traffic law requires applicants to pass the theory and technical driving tests unless an official exemption applies. A private-car licence does not automatically authorize riding a motorcycle; the motorcycle category is separate.

05Receive the motorcycle driving licence

After you pass, the General Directorate of Traffic's new-licence page says to bring the success form to the Licensing Division at the Driving School in A'ali. The page expressly includes motorcycle licences.

The official GDT page identifies the success form and the Licensing Division at the A'ali Driving School.

Under the traffic regulations, the ordinary motorcycle driving licence is valid for five years and can be renewed for further five-year periods. Use the Bahrain driving licence renewal guide when it is due.

06Common motorcycle licence problems

The motorcycle option is missing

Check the age and identity record, then reopen the official learner-licence service. Do not choose the private-car category as a substitute.

The application stops at fines or restrictions

Clear the listed traffic matter or legal restriction before retrying. Use the Bahrain traffic fines guide for the official payment and objection routes.

You failed the eyesight check

Follow the instruction given by the authorised examiner. Do not pay for training until the learner-licence eligibility issue is resolved.

Your calculated fee is not BHD 24

The manual figure is an example. The live service publishes a wider range and calculates the actual amount from the selected items.

You passed but do not have the final licence

Take the success form to the Licensing Division at the Driving School in A'ali, as stated by GDT.
