How do I check Bahrain traffic and use GDT services?

By Gaurav Agarwal · Updated 20 October 2026

Bahrain’s official traffic services are in the MyGov app: open My Traffic Record for licences, vehicles, fines and due amounts, or Report Traffic Accidents for an eligible minor accident. The former eTraffic services moved to MyGov, and the official page publishes no move date. For traffic-service enquiries, call 199, available 24 hours daily.

01Choose the right Bahrain traffic route

Bahrain traffic tasks split into two groups. Use a current navigation map to estimate congestion and journey time. Use General Directorate of Traffic services for official records, due amounts, renewals, accidents, certificates and contact details.

The official service hub groups traffic, vehicle and driving services. The former eTraffic services have moved to MyGov, and the migration page gives no move date. Download MyGov for current Ministry of Interior traffic services.

This page routes you to the correct official service without repeating the full fine, renewal or camera guides. Each detailed guide is linked where it becomes useful.

02Plan for current traffic conditions

Use a current navigation map to estimate congestion and journey time. GDT lists its Instagram account as trafficbh. Use MyGov for records, payments and services.

The former eTraffic service map lists speed-camera and traffic-and-inspection-centre locators, while the official page says the services have moved to MyGov. For a traffic-service enquiry, GDT lists 199 around the clock.

  1. Check a current navigation map for congestion, and use trafficbh for GDT posts.
  2. Open MyGov for fines, records, renewals or accident reporting.
  3. Call 199 when you need an official traffic-service enquiry.

03Check your traffic record and due amounts

My Traffic Record shows driving licences, vehicle registrations, traffic contraventions and plate numbers. It also lets the user select desired due amounts for online payment.

Due Payments covers amounts linked to driving-licence renewal, vehicle-registration renewal and traffic contraventions.

Use the dedicated Bahrain traffic fine guide when you need the detailed check-and-pay flow. This hub keeps the distinction clear: a traffic record is the overview, while a payment is one action within that record.

  1. Open the official GDT services hub.
  2. Choose My Traffic Record for the full overview.
  3. Review the licence, vehicle, plate and contravention details shown.
  4. Select the due amount you intend to pay.

04Use the correct traffic-accident route

The official catalogue lists reporting traffic accidents, viewing reported accidents and traffic-accident acknowledgement. These are separate steps, so choose the service that matches your role and the report status.

The traffic accident page describes online reporting for reconciled minor accidents and publishes a 15-minute completion time. If the injury question is answered yes, the official flow directs the user to call 199.

The same service bundle includes an Insurance Companies Locator. Accident offices include Security Complex Muharraq, open daily from 7:30 am to 10 pm; Nabih Saleh Police Station, open 24 hours; Dana Mall and Wadi Alsail Mall, both open daily from 8 am to 11 pm.

05Vehicle, inspection and used-car services

Use the dedicated registration-renewal guide for fees, insurance and inspection conditions. The former eTraffic service map lists a Traffic and Inspection Centers Locator, and the page says those services have moved to MyGov.

For the GDT light-vehicle technical inspection centre, the published hours are Sunday to Thursday from 6 am to 2 pm.

The official Vehicle Record Inquiry checks the condition of a used vehicle. The service page says it is immediate and requires no documents. The service map also lists King Fahad Causeway vehicle authorisation and insurance, a fuel-station locator and fuel enquiry, and a registration-renewal discount for Bahraini vehicle owners aged 60 and over.

06Traffic certificates and contact updates

Traffic Certificates lets individuals and commercial registrations issue and view traffic certificates and verify issued details. Several certificate types require settlement of fines, contraventions and traffic accidents, if any.

The GDT hub also provides a service to update the mobile number and email stored with the directorate.

Choose the certificate by its official name and read its conditions. The page gives a valid vehicle registration as a condition for some certificates and a valid driving licence for the Driver’s License Verification Certificate.

07Traffic law and the points system

Law No. 30 of 2025 amended provisions of the Traffic Law and tightened penalties to support public safety. The official legislation page also lists Minister of the Interior Decision No. 153 of 2015, which introduced the points system for traffic offences.

Use the dedicated Bahrain traffic-fine and smart-camera guides below for the task-specific check and payment routes.

08GDT contact details and working hours

For traffic-service enquiries, GDT lists 199 as a 24-hour daily number. Electronic traffic services are available 24/7. Remote support works Sunday to Thursday from 8 am to 2 pm.

The main GDT building lists Sunday to Thursday from 7:30 am to 2 pm. The remote-services page also lists traffic@gdt.gov.bh.

GDT accepts enquiries and suggestions through Tawasul. For an insurance-data update by video call, book through Mawaeed; the published hours are Sunday to Thursday from 8 am to 2 pm.
