01Which official traffic fine route should you use?

The official service is for the vehicle owner, record holder or driver. Use the website when you want a direct browser route, eTraffic when you also manage vehicle and driving records, MyGov when you already use Bahrain's government app, or an iGA kiosk when you need a public self-service channel.

Use only a government portal or the official app listing. Do not open a payment link from an unexpected message. A fine should be checked from bahrain.bh, eTraffic, MyGov or a listed government kiosk before you enter identity or card details.

02How to check and pay Bahrain traffic fines online

Before paying, compare the vehicle number, offence details and amount with your records. Save the receipt after payment. The official process time is one working day, so do not make a second payment only because the record has not cleared immediately.

  1. Open the official Settlement of Traffic Contraventions page on bahrain.bh and select Use eService.
  2. Choose Pay contraventions.
  3. Select the ID type and enter the ID number.
  4. Enter the vehicle number and registration type, then select Continue.
  5. Review the details shown and select the contraventions to pay.
  6. Enter the contact information, complete payment by the method shown and save the receipt or reference number.
  7. Check the traffic record again after the published process time of 1 Working Day.

What to have ready

Keep the information the service asks for and a debit or credit card ready. The official service says no documents are required. You may still need supporting evidence later if you contact GDT about a wrong fine, but that is separate from checking and paying online.

03Use eTraffic, MyGov or an iGA kiosk

The official eTraffic listing includes My Traffic Record and Payment of Traffic Contraventions. It also includes vehicle registration renewal, driving licence renewal, accident services and traffic-centre locations. This makes it useful when a fine affects a wider vehicle task.

The government service directory also lists MyGov and iGA kiosks. If a service asks you to sign in, use your own eKey details and never share a one-time approval code with another person.

The public service directory confirms debit and credit cards for the online service. It does not confirm BenefitPay, Apple Pay or MAX Wallet for every route. Use only the options that the official website, app or kiosk shows at checkout.

04Resident, company, rental car or used-car check

Use the identity and vehicle details that match the official record. The public service says the owner, record holder or driver can enquire. It does not publish one separate workflow for every rental, visitor or company case, so the correct first step is to identify whose record and vehicle the contravention belongs to.

A clear online result is useful, but it is not a complete legal or mechanical history of a vehicle. It does not prove there is no pending court matter, accident claim or other restriction outside the settled contraventions shown by this service.

Use the record that controls the vehicle or contravention
SituationWhat to do
Resident with a personal vehicleCheck using the identity and vehicle details requested by the official service.
Company vehicleUse the company or record-holder route shown by the live service and the exact registration details.
Rental carAsk the rental company for the official contravention details and any separate contractual charge. The government page does not set rental-company administration fees.
Visitor or touristUse the official channel available for the record, or contact the vehicle owner or rental company if you cannot access it.
Buying a used carAsk the registered owner to show a current official check. Also complete the official transfer and vehicle-record checks.
Selling a carCheck and clear payable contraventions before starting transfer, then keep the payment receipt.

Used-car mini-checklist

Match the chassis and registration details, verify the seller is authorized to transfer the vehicle, view the current traffic record through an official channel, and complete the official ownership-transfer process. A screenshot sent by a seller can be old, so confirm the live record during the transaction.

05What to do if the fine is wrong or will not clear

The official settlement service is described as a view and pay service. Its public page does not list an online objection button. If the vehicle, driver, date or offence appears wrong, do not pay merely to remove it. Keep the result or reference and contact or visit the General Directorate of Traffic for the current review route.

For a service failure, the official GDT launch page lists the National Contact Center at 8000 8001. Explain which channel you used, the time of the attempt and the error message. Do not publish or send your CPR, card number or one-time code in a public complaint.

06Settlement amounts, court penalties and the 2025 changes

Do not confuse the service's BHD 5 to BHD 300 settlement range with the penalties a court can impose under the Traffic Law. The online service amount depends on the contravention type. Serious offences and cases handled through legal proceedings can carry higher fines, imprisonment or licence measures under the law.

Legislative Decree No. 30 of 2025 amended several Traffic Law penalty provisions. It was issued on 19 August 2025 and took effect after publication. The examples below are court penalty ranges from the law, not a promise that the online checkout amount will equal the minimum or maximum.

Selected official Traffic Law penalties checked 12 October 2026
OffenceWhat the law states
Speeding by 30 percent above the maximum speed (Article 50, first paragraph)Up to 3 months imprisonment and BHD 50 to BHD 250, or either.
Speeding by more than that percentage1 to 6 months imprisonment and BHD 200 to BHD 1,000, or either, under the 2025 amendment.
Crossing a red lightUp to 6 months imprisonment and BHD 200 to BHD 1,000, or either.
Red-light offence causing property damage3 months to 1 year imprisonment and BHD 1,000 to BHD 3,000, or either.
Handheld mobile phone call while drivingThis is listed under Article 47. The amended Article 47 range is up to 6 months imprisonment and BHD 100 to BHD 500, or either.

What about black points?

The Traffic Law establishes a traffic-points system, and the official eTraffic app includes My Traffic Record. The public official pages reviewed for this guide do not provide one simple current points table for every offence. Check the driver's live record rather than relying on an undated points chart.

What are the new traffic rules for 2026?

The major recent penalty change found in the official legislation is Legislative Decree No. 30 of 2025. It amended the red-light, speeding, mobile-phone, drink-and-drug-driving and other penalty provisions. Do not label a social-media list as a 2026 rule unless it appears in the current Traffic Law, its executive regulations or an official GDT notice.

07Final check before you pay

Read the vehicle and offence details, confirm the amount belongs to a settled contravention, and make sure you are on an official channel. If the record is wrong, contact GDT before payment. If it is correct, save the receipt and allow the published processing time before checking again.

A paid traffic fine can be one step in another vehicle task. Continue with the official renewal or transfer service and follow any additional conditions it shows. This guide is independent information, not legal advice. For service help, call 8000 8001.

  1. Confirm the domain or official app publisher.
  2. Match the identity, vehicle number and registration type.
  3. Read the offence and amount before selecting payment.
  4. Use only a payment method displayed by the official channel.
  5. Save the receipt and transaction reference.
  6. Check the record after the published one-working-day process time.
  7. If the record is wrong or still blocked, contact GDT instead of paying twice.

08FAQs

How do I check traffic fines in Bahrain?

Use the official Payment of Traffic Contraventions service on bahrain.bh, the eTraffic app, MyGov or an iGA kiosk. Enter the identity and vehicle details requested by the selected channel.

How do I pay Bahrain traffic fines online?

Open the official service, review the contravention, select a settled fine and pay using a method shown at checkout. The public service page confirms debit card and credit card.

How much are Bahrain traffic fines?

The official settlement service lists BHD 5 to BHD 300 based on contravention type. Court penalties for serious offences can be higher, so keep the online settlement amount separate from penalty ranges in the Traffic Law.

How long does a paid fine take to clear?

The official service lists a process time of one working day. Keep the receipt and check again after that period before contacting GDT or attempting another payment.

Can I dispute a wrong traffic fine online?

The public settlement page describes viewing and paying, not an online objection function. If the fine appears wrong, keep the details and contact or visit the General Directorate of Traffic before paying.

Can a company or rental-car driver check a fine?

The official service is for the owner, record holder or driver. Use the identity and vehicle details that match the record. A rental company may have separate contract charges that are not set by the government service page.

What is the Bahrain speeding penalty?

Article 50 sets different court ranges. For driving 30 percent above the maximum speed, it provides up to three months imprisonment and BHD 50 to BHD 250, or either. Above that percentage, the 2025 amendment provides one to six months and BHD 200 to BHD 1,000, or either.

Where can I see black points?

Use My Traffic Record in the official eTraffic app. The public official pages reviewed do not publish one simple current table of points for every offence.
