01LMRA visa cancellation: the shortest route

1. The employer signs in to LMRA EMS.
2. Open the Permit Cancellation folder.
3. Choose Apply for Permit Cancellation and Deportation.
4. Enter the requested employee and cancellation details.
5. Upload supporting documents only if relevant.
6. Read the terms, choose I Accept and submit.
7. Pay the BHD 5 administration fee through EMS or an accredited bank.
8. Check View Permit Cancellation and Deportation for the last travel date and status.

02Understand the cancellation conditions

The employee must leave Bahrain before the work permit expiry date unless the worker transfers to another employer under LMRA procedures. If the employee leaves within the last-travel-date period, LMRA says the permit is cancelled automatically in both LMRA and NPRA systems when the departure is recorded.

If the employee is already outside Bahrain with a valid work permit, the employer can submit the same cancellation and deportation request. After the administration fee is paid, the permit is cancelled in both systems.

03Submit and track the request in EMS

After the employer submits and accepts the terms, a valid permit moves to Await Admin Fees. Pay before the invoice due date. EMS then sets the last travel date based on the permit expiry date. Open View Permit Cancellation and Deportation to see it.

04Fee, result and reversing the request

The official service lists an administration fee of BHD 5. LMRA does not publish a separate processing-time promise on this service page. The final cancellation occurs in LMRA and NPRA after the required departure or applicable system action.

Before the permit is cancelled, the employer can open View Permit Cancellation and Deportation, select the application ID and choose Cancel Permit Cancellation and Deportation. LMRA states that the BHD 5 administration fee is not refundable.

05Fix common cancellation problems

The employee wants to change jobs

Do not treat cancellation as the transfer process. Check LMRA’s employee-transfer and Intention to Transfer routes before ending the permit.

The employee is already outside Bahrain

The employer can apply while the valid permit holder is abroad. Pay the administration fee so the LMRA and NPRA cancellation can complete.

The status stays at Await Admin Fees

Check the BHD 5 invoice and its due date in EMS. Use an accredited bank if the EMS payment route is unavailable.

The employer wants to withdraw the cancellation request

Use View Permit Cancellation and Deportation and select the cancellation action before the permit itself is cancelled. The administration fee is not refunded.

Can a worker cancel their own LMRA work permit?

The standard employer-sponsored cancellation route is submitted by the employer in EMS. Workers with a special problem should contact LMRA rather than using an unrelated NPRA visa route.

Does cancellation happen immediately after submission?

No. LMRA says the permit remains valid until the employee leaves Bahrain or transfers according to LMRA procedures. Use the application’s last travel date and current status.

Does LMRA cancellation also cancel the NPRA record?

LMRA states that once the work permit cancellation completes, it is cancelled in both LMRA and NPRA systems.
