Bahrain Polytechnic Admission: Applications, Entry Tests and Offer Checks
By Gaurav Agarwal · Sources checked 6 October 2026
Apply through Bahrain Polytechnic's announced window, complete the required English and mathematics tests, and confirm any offer by its deadline. Programme-specific assessments may also apply. The reviewed 2026/27 dates are past, and conflicting official tuition figures need a written quotation.

Bahrain Polytechnic admission involves an online application, the required English and mathematics entry tests, any programme-specific assessment, and confirmation of an offered place by the stated deadline. Meeting a general requirement or paying the application charge does not guarantee selection. Use the route for your intended programme and keep the application, testing and confirmation stages separate.
This guide draws on Polytechnic's official admissions pages checked on 6 October 2026. The published general 2026/27 application window ended on 4 May 2026, with later confirmation and document stages also now past. Check the next official announcement before treating an application form as open. The guide also explains an unresolved conflict between two official non-Bahraini tuition figures.
Choose the correct admission route before you apply
Start with the exact programme and award. A school graduate applying to a standard undergraduate or diploma programme is not following the same route as a holder of a specialist aviation qualification, a top-up applicant or a postgraduate applicant. The official admission timeline separates these categories, with different eligibility descriptions and stages.
The entry-requirements page says applicants need a high-school diploma or equivalent, must satisfy programme requirements and tests, and depend on available seats. It also sets document and confirmation conditions. Treat those requirements as a complete application route rather than selecting a single condition that you meet and assuming admission follows.
If you are already studying elsewhere, ask about the transfer route before making plans to leave that institution. The published transfer conditions require academic review and contain additional restrictions. A transcript or a collection of similar course names does not establish the credit Polytechnic will accept. Request an individual assessment and keep a fallback plan until you have a decision.
For Visual Design and Interactive Design, the entry page specifies a portfolio review and a subsequent interview. The published timeline also names Digital Filmmaking in its portfolio stage. Confirm the current instructions for your exact programme so that a general undergraduate application is not left incomplete because a separate creative submission was missed.

Read the dates for your category and the right academic year
The reviewed 2026/27 timeline listed 12 January to 4 May 2026 for general undergraduate and diploma applications. It showed tests running into June, admission results on 15 June, a June confirmation period and accepted-applicant document submission from 12 to 30 July. These are historical dates at this guide's October review, not an invitation to submit now.
Polytechnic reserves the ability to amend its timeline. Record the dates from the announcement for your next applicable intake, and check again before each action. Where a date is marked to be announced, leave it unresolved in your plan rather than guessing from a previous year or another programme's calendar.
Use a small tracking table with one row for each required action: application submitted, payment completed, test booked, portfolio submitted if applicable, offer received, offer confirmed and final documents delivered. Add the deadline and reference number to each row. That makes it easier to identify a missing stage while there is still time to correct it.
The admission FAQ says applications are treated the same regardless of submission order. Applying early within the correct window can still give you time to resolve a technical or document issue, but it should not be described as an automatic selection advantage.
Separate initial application documents from acceptance requirements
The FAQ's initial application guidance asks for a valid passport or identity card and says attaching five semesters of school results is optional at that stage. The broader entry-requirements page lists the documents needed for admission, including school completion evidence and other records. These lists describe different stages, so do not assume the initial upload screen is the entire final checklist.
| Stage | What to organise | Check before proceeding |
|---|---|---|
| Initial application | Identity details and the uploads requested in the live application | Names, document validity and the correct programme route |
| Academic assessment | School results and any programme-specific portfolio or transfer evidence | Which records must arrive by a separate deadline |
| After an offer | The complete document list in the offer and entry requirements | Medical, conduct and school-certificate evidence applicable to your circumstances |
| Confirmation | Payment and completed admission conditions | The actual deadline and evidence that the place is confirmed |
The full entry page distinguishes some requirements for non-Bahraini applicants, including acceptable sources of medical and conduct evidence. It also addresses school certificates from Bahrain private schools and schools abroad. Follow the institution's instructions for your category and ask Admissions to resolve an unclear document. This guide does not replace a separate official attestation or qualification-recognition procedure.
Create readable scans and keep the originals available. Check that your name is consistent across identity and school records. If it differs, explain the discrepancy and ask what supporting evidence is needed. Do not edit a document to make the information appear consistent; preserve the official records and the university's written instruction.
Prepare for English and mathematics tests using the official guidance
The entry-tests page says applicants must meet the required standard in English and mathematics to be considered for selection. For full-time programmes, the appointment is selected after the application fee is paid. It links official samples, which are a better starting point than an unverified list of remembered questions.
The English sample is described as assessing use of English and listening. The mathematics guidance names topics including percentages, ratios, algebra, trigonometry, differentiation and measures of central tendency. Use the sample to identify what you need to revise, then practise interpreting the question and checking the result. A published topic list does not promise the exact questions or a guaranteed pass.
The page describes computer-based tests but also gives exam-room instructions, including arriving early, bringing a smart card and an allowed calculator, and not using a phone. Do not assume the word online means a test can be taken remotely from home. Follow the location, equipment and arrival instructions in your actual appointment.
It gives an approximate three-hour duration and says a late applicant will not be allowed to sit. Plan transport and allow time to find the location. If a problem arises, use the university's stated contact route promptly; do not rely on an assumed right to change the appointment. The published instructions say the test date cannot be changed by the applicant, while Polytechnic can reschedule.

IELTS or TOEFL does not remove the entry-test requirement in the reviewed guidance. After an offer has been accepted, a qualifying recent certificate may be considered through credit recognition, subject to review. Keep those two decisions separate: admission testing first, possible recognition later. No course exemption is guaranteed.
Distinguish application, confirmation and tuition payments
The application and confirmation fees page lists BHD 20 to apply to full-time programmes and BHD 120 to confirm a place. Both are described as non-refundable and non-transferable. Specialist routes can have different charges: the same page separately describes the customised mechanical-engineering route. Use the correct category when preparing payment.
There is an important unresolved tuition discrepancy. The admissions FAQ states BHD 42 per credit for non-Bahraini students, illustrated as BHD 2,520 for a full-time 60-credit semester. The Student Fees and Finance page instead states BHD 20 per credit and BHD 1,200 for the same illustrated load. Both were accessible on the review date.
The finance page also describes the BHD 120 confirmation amount for a non-Bahraini applicant as leaving approximately BHD 1,080 in tuition to pay after accepting the offer. Because this sits beside a different tuition schedule from the FAQ, obtain a written quotation for your programme, intake and fee category. Do not add BHD 120 to a semester total automatically or choose the lower page as an established entitlement.
Both sources use Polytechnic credits. Do not compare the number 60 directly with another university's 15 credit hours as though the units were identical. Compare the actual semester workload and the confirmed amount payable. The FAQ says books must be bought separately, so ask what materials your planned modules require.
The full-time fee page says a non-Bahraini citizen with a Bahraini mother, or a woman married to a Bahraini husband, is treated as Bahraini for fee payment. Ask what documentation is needed and ensure your actual quotation uses the approved category. This fee provision is not a guarantee of admission.

Confirm the offer and be ready to attend the accepted semester
Read the offer itself, including the programme, outstanding conditions, payment instructions and final document deadline. Polytechnic's published guidance says an offer can be withdrawn if confirmation or required documents are not completed in time. Save the receipt, but also check for the university's confirmation that the required steps are complete.
The FAQ says a place cannot be deferred and an accepted student must attend the semester for which the offer was made. This is important if you are waiting for work arrangements, travel or finances. Resolve those dependencies before accepting on the assumption that you can move the start date later.
Scholarship applicants still need to apply and complete the entry tests. A funding possibility does not replace academic selection or guarantee a place. Keep the scholarship decision, admission decision and fee quotation as separate documents, then check that the programme and start date match across all three.
If you do not understand a condition, send Admissions a focused question quoting the relevant line and your application reference. Use the official contact details on the admissions pages. Avoid sending an entire collection of private records through informal channels when a short clarification request will identify the next required step.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bahrain Polytechnic admission open now?
This guide cannot establish a new open window from the reviewed 2026/27 page. Its general application and confirmation dates were already past on 6 October 2026. Check the current official timeline and announcement for your programme.
How much is the full-time application fee?
The reviewed full-time page lists BHD 20, non-refundable and non-transferable. It separately lists other charges for a customised specialist route, so do not apply the general amount to every programme.
Does IELTS let me skip the entry tests?
No exemption is stated in the reviewed guidance. Applicants still complete the English and mathematics tests. Recent IELTS or TOEFL evidence may be considered for credit recognition after acceptance, subject to the university's process.
Do all applicants need a portfolio?
No. Portfolio requirements concern specified creative programmes. Read the current instructions for your exact programme; the entry-requirements and timeline pages name relevant design and filmmaking routes.
Can I postpone my first semester after accepting?
The published FAQ says there is no deferment of an accepted place. Ask Admissions about your circumstances before accepting, rather than planning around a postponement that has not been approved.
Are non-Bahraini semester fees BHD 1,200 or BHD 2,520?
The two official pages reviewed show those different totals. A written quotation for your programme, intake and category is needed to resolve which applies. This article does not silently select one.
Does paying confirm admission?
An application payment enables the application stage; it is not an offer. After selection, confirmation requires the payment and other conditions stated in the offer. Keep evidence of each stage and verify completion in the official system.
