Bahrain Notary Appointment: Booking, Documents and Fees

01Choose the exact notary service first

A Bahrain notary appointment is not one universal transaction. The Notary Directorate handles powers of attorney, declarations, signature certification, document copies and several company or property instruments. The documents and fee change with the instrument.

1. Open the official Notary Directorate overview.
2. Search the Bahrain government service directory for the document you need, such as a special power of attorney, general power of attorney, declaration or authenticated replica.
3. Read that service page before requesting an appointment. Check the required parties, original documents, fee and whether the transaction is general or real estate related.

The Directorate says it attests documents, certifies signatures, confirms document dates and records declarations. Licensed private notaries may provide the same authorized route through their own offices, including outside ordinary government working hours.

02Book the appointment through the correct line

1. For a general notarization transaction, open WhatsApp and contact 35436743.
2. For a real estate notarization transaction, contact 35436744.
3. Send the applicant's name, personal number, contact number and the type of transaction requested. These are the details the Ministry's appointment notice asks applicants to provide.
4. Wait for the appointment response. Do not attend on an assumed date.
5. Keep the appointment message and take the originals listed on the selected service page.

03Prepare the originals and authority documents

The exact list depends on the instrument. For the official notarized power of attorney or declaration service, the published requirements include:

• Original passport or identity card. Foreign nationals may be asked for the passport on services that specify it.
• The original document or draft that will be notarized.
• Original powers of attorney when someone attends as an agent.
• Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication or an Apostille for a foreign power of attorney, where the official service requires it.
• A completed Know Your Customer form.
• For an entity: the memorandum of association, current Commercial Registration extract and the relevant board or partners' decision.

Check who must attend. Some services require the principal, the agent, all parties or an authorized representative. A document held by an agent does not automatically prove that the agent may sign every kind of instrument. When a company is involved, confirm that the board or partner decision actually authorizes the transaction.

Documents needed by the notary should normally be in Arabic. If a record is in another language, check whether an Arabic translation and authentication are required before the appointment. Doing this after arriving is a common cause of a second visit.

04Check the fee for your document

There is no single Bahrain notary fee. The official service directory publishes a fee for each instrument. Examples checked on 6 October 2026 are:

Use these amounts only for the named services. Property contracts, company documents and other declarations can have different fees. A private notary may also charge for its service or location. Ask for the total before confirming a private appointment.

05Use the eNotary portal when the transaction is available online

The Ministry of Justice also operates an Arabic electronic notary portal. Its public home screen includes new transactions, transaction enquiry, required documents, cancellations, authenticated copies and video notarization.

1. Open the portal and choose the service that matches your document.
2. Review the public requirements where available.
3. Select the transaction entry point.
4. Sign in with the eKey option shown by the portal.
5. Complete the private form, upload the requested records and follow the portal's payment or appointment instructions.

06When to contact a licensed private notary

A licensed private notary can be useful when you need an appointment outside the Directorate's ordinary hours or prefer a different office location. The official Notary Directorate page says appointments with private notaries are made by contacting the accredited notary directly.

1. Open the official private-notary directory linked from the Ministry or the electronic notary portal.
2. Choose an accredited notary and verify the contact details on the official listing.
3. Describe the exact instrument and the parties involved.
4. Ask which originals, translations and authority documents are required.
5. Confirm the appointment, location and total charge before attending.

A private notary is a licensed route, but a commercial law-firm page is not the government booking portal. Use the official directory to confirm that the notary is accredited.

07Common booking problems and fixes

You do not know which WhatsApp number to use

Use 35436743 for general notarization and 35436744 for real estate notarization. If the transaction involves property but its classification is unclear, describe it before requesting the appointment rather than booking through both lines.

The notary asks for a board or partners' decision

An employee's ID and the company's CR are not always enough. The official service pages require the memorandum, CR extract and a board or partners' decision for many entity transactions. The decision should authorize the document and the person acting.

A foreign power of attorney is refused

The fee quoted online does not match

Return to the service page for the exact instrument. A general power of attorney, a declaration, a company memorandum and an authenticated copy have different published amounts. Also distinguish the government fee from any separate private-notary charge.

You need a company document notarized for a CR application
