CPR Address Change Bahrain: Online Steps, Fee and Documents

01Choose the address proof that matches your situation

• Owner with an active EWA account: use the residential property linked to that account.
• Tenant with EWA in your name: use the active EWA account for the rented home.
• Tenant when the landlord holds the EWA account: obtain a municipality address certificate. The landlord must not be registered at the same address.
• Living with a relative: obtain the property owner's non-objection accommodation declaration.
• Ministry of Housing unit: register that housing unit as your address.

You also need a valid ID card and passport. A non-Bahraini applicant needs a valid residence permit. Documents issued outside Bahrain must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

02How to change your CPR address online

1. Open the official Update ID Card Residential Address service.
2. Choose Use eService and sign in with eKey.
3. Select the new residential address.
4. Enter the requested details and attach the address document for your situation.
5. Review the new address and submit the request.
6. Use Edit and Request Status Enquiry in the ID Card services to track the request.

After approval, the updated address appears in the ID card records.

03CPR address change fee and processing time

• ID card chip update fee: BHD 1.
• Online request: 1 working day.
• Self-service kiosk: immediate chip update.
• Service centre: about 30 minutes with an appointment.

If the changed information must also appear on the printed surface of the ID card, apply for ID card issuance after the record is updated.

04Rules for renters, relatives and families

A head of family with an active EWA account must register family members at that account's address. The Identity Card Services page also says the head of household must update domestic workers to that address.

If you are moving from a property you own to a rented home, provide proof of the rental, sale, or a municipality building or renovation permit. A person using a relative's address needs the owner's approval through the Declaration of Accommodation form (iGA ID Card Declaration Forms).

If you own several homes with active electricity accounts, the official service guidance says you may choose any of them, provided you fully own that property.

05Non-Bahraini residents and LMRA records

A non-Bahraini applicant must hold a valid residence permit. The applicant must be inside Bahrain for the ID card chip update.

If your residency is registered through LMRA, complete any pending LMRA procedures and update your data in the LMRA system first. The iGA service directory requires LMRA-registered residents to update their data with LMRA before the CPR record is changed.

06Update the chip and check the result

Once iGA approves the address, update the ID card chip at an iGA service centre or a supported self-service kiosk. The official service directory lists the kiosk update as immediate and the service-centre visit as about 30 minutes with an appointment.

Use the ID Card service's Edit and Request Status Enquiry option to follow the request.
