Check your flight before leaving for the airport
Use Bahrain International Airport's official arrivals board when meeting someone and its departures board when flying out. Search by flight number and confirm the date. An airline can sell a flight under a partner's code, so ask the passenger or airline for the operating flight number if a search does not find the expected result. Read the displayed status and latest update rather than relying on the time printed on an old booking confirmation.
Airport opening, airspace restrictions and an individual flight's operation are different questions. A general announcement does not confirm that your service is departing. If the board and your airline disagree, contact the operating airline before travelling. This guide does not reproduce live schedules or claim that a past disruption has ended. Keep the airline's notification channel available and retain booking references privately.
| Your task | Start here | Check before acting |
|---|---|---|
| Collect an arriving passenger | Official arrivals board | Flight date, landing status and the passenger's message after clearing formalities |
| Catch a departing flight | Airline booking and departures board | Check-in, bag-drop and boarding deadlines |
| Change planes | Operating airline and transfer desk | Boarding pass, bag routing and the next flight |
| Resolve cancellation or delay | Operating airline | Rebooking instructions and any assistance confirmed for your booking |
Arrivals: immigration, bags and customs
The airport's passenger process guide places immigration before baggage collection and customs. Have your passport and the visa documents applicable to your journey ready. After collecting your bags, use the appropriate customs channel. The official guide identifies green for nothing to declare and red for goods to declare. Ask an officer if you are unsure; a purchase at a duty-free shop does not by itself establish the allowance at your destination.
Do not infer entry eligibility from a friend's nationality or residence status. The official NPRA eVisa service is the place to check the route offered for your circumstances. Our existing Bahrain visa-on-arrival guide explains the checking process. An application, payment or issued visa is not an unconditional guarantee of entry.
For meeting arrangements, agree on a public meeting point and wait for the traveller to confirm that baggage and customs are complete. A landing notification does not mean the person is already outside. If someone has no mobile data, use an agreed fallback such as the information desk instead of sending a driver repeatedly around a timed pickup lane.
Find a suitcase or report a baggage problem
The official baggage-claim page explains that displays above the reclaim carousels identify the flight. Match the display with your flight and ask staff if the belt is unclear. Check the baggage tag before taking a similar-looking case. Keep your bag receipt until the journey and any baggage issue are resolved.
If a bag does not arrive or is damaged, the airport lists Baggage Services in the reclaim area and the arrivals meet-and-greet area on its lost or mishandled baggage page. The published assistance number is +973 17138553, checked 6 October 2026. Ask which airline or handling representative should create the report and retain the reference. A report reference is useful evidence; it is not a promise of a delivery time or compensation.
For an object left in the terminal rather than checked baggage, describe the item and the last location to airport staff. For an item left on board, ask the operating airline which team handles it. Keep descriptions factual and share identity or booking documents only through the responsible service's verified channel.
Connections: stay on the correct side of immigration
The official transfers page directs connecting passengers towards transfer counters before immigration, followed by security and the departure hall on Level 2. Follow the terminal's transfer signs and ask staff if you do not have the next boarding pass. The existence of a transfer desk does not establish that every pair of flights can be connected without entering Bahrain.

Before booking separate tickets, obtain answers from both airlines: will bags be checked to the final destination, must you collect and recheck them, and can the next boarding pass be issued airside? If collecting a bag requires immigration, check Bahrain entry eligibility before buying the journey. Leave a practical margin for the formalities actually required. No universal minimum connection time or protected self-transfer entitlement is established by the airport pages reviewed here.
For a delayed inbound flight, speak to the airline or transfer desk before booking replacement travel yourself. Record the options offered and their conditions. If an overnight stay or a change to a landside hotel is proposed, confirm where it is located and whether you can lawfully reach it. A long layover alone does not grant permission to leave the airport.
Departures: check-in, security and the gate
Follow your airline's check-in and bag-drop instructions. Check baggage allowance on the ticket you actually bought, including any separate connecting ticket. Online check-in does not answer every document-check or bag-drop requirement. Keep time for the remaining airport steps even when you already have a mobile boarding pass.
The airport's security guidance advises passengers carrying prescription medicines or syringes to keep them in original containers and carry the prescriptions. It also describes screening of walking aids and pushchairs. Tell the officer about a relevant medical device and follow the current screening instruction. Airline dangerous-goods rules and destination import restrictions require their own checks; this is not a complete list of items permitted in baggage.
Use the boarding deadline supplied by your airline. The airport's general process panels display different gate-closing intervals, so neither is used here as a universal rule. Locate the gate before settling into a meal, lounge or shopping visit, and keep checking the departure screens. A change to the scheduled departure time does not automatically mean that every earlier deadline has changed.
Bus, taxi or a prearranged pickup
The airport's bus page places the stop at exit 4 on the arrivals level, zone 4A, and lists routes A1, A2, 10 and 11. It publishes a BHD 0.300 cash single fare and GO Card fares separately. Check the operator's current timetable and destination before boarding, especially for a late arrival. A general statement about airport connections does not mean every route operates all night.

The official taxi page lists a BHD 2 starting charge plus BHD 2 airport pickup charge for metered taxis. This is not a fixed fare to Manama. It also identifies an app-based pickup area near Gate 1. Airport pages differ on the precise conventional taxi rank location, so follow the current taxi signs or ask staff. Use the designated vehicle for the service booked and confirm the destination before departure.
For a hotel pickup, confirm the booking name, meeting point, waiting allowance and what happens if the flight is delayed. For car hire, confirm the supplier's licence, payment-card and deposit requirements before arrival. A low headline rate does not establish the final charge or permission to drive across a border. Keep your rental agreement and the vehicle condition record.
Meeting someone or leaving a car
Choose a parking option by the task, not just proximity. The official parking page distinguishes terminal-adjacent Car Park B, long-stay Car Park D with a shuttle, valet and timed curbside lanes. A pickup lane is unsuitable for an uncertain wait through immigration and baggage reclaim. Check the current charge table, any offer conditions and VAT treatment before entering.
If leaving a vehicle for a trip, record the park and space, keep the ticket or payment reference and allow time to reach the terminal. If an accessible space or assistance is needed, confirm the arrangement before travelling. Avoid calculating a bill from a cropped tariff image that omits the time band or conditions. The airport's table contains an overlapping offer boundary, so the actual entry/exit calculation should be confirmed with the parking service.
Accessibility, families and a longer wait
The airport's special-assistance page recommends arranging wheelchair help through the airline in advance. Its published Special Services number is +973 17138226. Tell the airline what support is needed across the complete journey, including a connection. An accessible terminal facility and an airline assistance reservation are different arrangements.

The lounge and hotel directory distinguishes departure lounges and the airport hotel from the arrivals lounge. Check which side of the airport your booking serves. Confirm the price, permitted stay, guest and child terms, shower access and cancellation conditions directly with the operator. A bank-card logo or membership is not a guarantee that your particular visit is included.
Use the official interactive map to find services on the relevant floor. Select arrivals, pre-check-in departures or departures as appropriate. The services directory is a starting point for currency exchange, telecoms and other facilities. Compare the actual quotation before changing money and keep documents, medication and essential chargers accessible while waiting.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bahrain Airport open right now?
Check the official airport's current announcements and flight board, then confirm your flight with the operating airline. Search results and this evergreen guide cannot establish live airport or airspace status.
Has Bahrain Airport reopened after a disruption?
Use a dated official announcement for the event concerned and verify your own service. A previous reopening report is not evidence that every route is operating today.
Can I meet a passenger as soon as the flight lands?
Allow for disembarkation, immigration, baggage and customs. Ask the passenger to confirm they have reached the public arrivals area before entering a timed pickup lane.
Can I stay airside on separate tickets?
Ask both airlines about boarding passes and baggage routing. If collecting or checking baggage requires entry, verify the relevant Bahrain entry conditions first.
Is a lounge available in arrivals?
The official directory lists the Pearl arrivals lounge separately from departure lounges. Confirm access, services and current booking terms with its operator.
Where do I start if I need mobility assistance?
Contact the airline in advance and explain the support needed for every flight and connection. The official special-assistance page provides the airport support route.
